I haven't played custom zombies in BO3 yet, but I actually heard the same thing as you did.

you can prefer going for what method is cheaper on steam store in your region. when a person buys multiplayer starter pack and then buys the special upgrade pack to zombies chronicles, that player has the same content as someone who only bought zombies chronicles edition. Sometimes due to conversion rates between different currencies, strange price differences may happen in various regions. in addition to 16 multiplayer maps, season pass also grants 5 zombie maps: the giant (remaster of "der riese"), der eisendrache, zetsubou no shima, gorod krovi, revelations.

zombies chronicles DLC includes 8 remastered maps from previous treyarch CoDs: nacht der untoten, verrückt, shi no numa, kino der toten, ascension, shangri-la, moon, origins. other than campaign, multiplayer, a few side game modes and access to custom zombies, base game has only 1 official zombie map, named "shadows of evil". Zombies deluxe edition : base game + zombies chronicles DLC + season pass Zombies chronicles edition : base game + zombies chronicles DLC the keys can still be activated on steam and it can be played as normal just like a person who directly bought from steam. you can get a base game key from there if you prefer so. and thus it's certainly not what you're looking for.Īs you've said, the standard base game isn't being sold on official stores anymore (steam, humble store etc), but products keys for it are still being sold on third-party sites (aka gray markets). Just owning the base game is enough to have full access to steam workshop, so you certainly don't need to own any extra DLCs for custom zombies.Īs a note, multiplayer starter pack is a heavily restricted version of BO3, which doesn't contain zombies, campaign, ability to enter prestige & play custom games etc.
